  • The FDA is reporting potential shortages for bupivacaine

  • The FDA is reporting potential shortages for buprenorphine

DIAZEPAM 11-23-11

  • The FDA is reporting potential shortages for diazepam - it stands to reason that there will be a significant increase in midazolam usage which may stress midazolam supply lines (at least in the short term).

  • The FDA is reporting potential shortages for MIDAZOLAM injectable due to increased demand resulting from diazepam shortage.

OXYMORPHONE

  • MWI and Southern Anesthesia & Surgical are both able to provide oxymorphone in 1 mg/ml 10 x 1ml ampoules for ~$32.00 - $35.00 USD

  • Besse Medical has dropped this drug from their inventory and do not expect to carry it at anytime in the future

    

PROPOFOL

  • Propofol is currently off the drug shortage list

    • Propoflo 28 (28 day shelf life) is currently being shipped ~$10.69 ( January 27, 2012 )
    • Hospira product now available through Besse @ $2.78 per 20 ml vial (www.besse.com; Nov 10, 2011)
      • NDC number 00409-4699-30
 

THIOPENTAL

  • No known current availability

  • No reason to think it will ever be back at this point ( January 27, 2012 )
